Vimla Gulabani works with coaches who want to see themselves more clearly and coach more deeply. Her supervision practice creates the kind of space where coaches can bring what’s actually happening—the moments they feel stuck, the patterns they keep noticing, the reactions they don’t quite understand—and explore them without judgment.
Vimla came to supervision through her own experience as a supervisee. She was surprised by how much she learned about herself when she began noticing moments of transference, countertransference, and parallel process with certain clients and topics. That experience transformed her coaching and now informs the work she does with coaches globally across Europe, the United States, and Asia.
Her approach draws on transpersonal, psychodynamic, and systemic frameworks. She stays attuned to what emerges in the supervision space, helping illuminate hidden patterns. She uses frameworks like Transactional Analysis and Internal Family Systems to understand internal dynamics, and systemic perspectives to explore how cultural and organizational contexts shape coaching relationships. She structures her sessions using Theory U, moving into deep listening and staying there as long as needed.
With an MBA and MS in Applied Mathematics (Operations Research), Vimla brings both analytical and psychological depth to her work. She specializes in executive coaching supervision, leadership development, and organizational culture.
Vimla volunteers as a supervisor and coach for The Humanitarian Coaching Network (HCN) and in 2025 joined colleagues to organize its supervision program. She also co-created Rising Tides Supervision with supervisors Gavan Ambrosini, Kendra Nitta, Susan MacIntyre, Dorel Shanon, and Jennifer Tankersley, providing pro bono supervision to coaches supporting workers impacted by recent U.S. government policies. In both individual and group supervision, Vimla works to balance different personalities and needs while maintaining depth and psychological safety. She creates containers where coaches can reflect deeply, see themselves clearly, and choose how they want to grow.
